Job Description Summary:

The Visitor Ambassador is responsible for administering all aspects of general wellness screening and questionnaire for visitors prior to entry into Jackson-Madison County General Hospital (JMCGH). Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide friendly verbal greeting to anyone entering JMCGH.
  • Shows compassion, empathy, and kindness in all interactions with patients and visitors and understands that rudeness is never acceptable.
  • Ability to understand visitation guidelines and will always make patient/visitor safety a priority.
  • Ask every non-staff visitor to stop for a brief screening.
  • Perform general wellness screening using the screening tool provided by WTH Administration.
  • Screening may require minimal physical contact and verbal questions and is subject to change periodically.
  • Provide any personal protective equipment required for visitors by WTH Administration.
  • Must be available to work various shifts ranging from 5 am to 8 pm and weekends.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

  • Not required

EXPERIENCE:

  • Retail, customer service or other experience as a front line staff preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Adaptability to software applications.
  • Knowledge of healthcare environment to effectively assess and prioritize communication needs.
  • Above average verbal skills required in giving accurate instruction, communicating effectively with hospital staff, patients and families.
  • Ability to work directly with a patient during Virtual Visitation with regard to patient positioning, ability to verbalize, vision, etc.
  • Ability to perform office procedures as required.
