Job Summary

Etched is hiring a Head of Production - Taiwan to oversee all Taiwan-based operations, with direct responsibility for execution at our L10 contract manufacturer. This senior leader will drive manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test activities, ensuring that production ramps meet yield, throughput, and delivery goals.

This person will manage Etched’s Taiwan team (Materials, OPM, Quality, Test, and Factory Manufacturing Engineers) and serve as the primary interface between Etched HQ and Taiwan operations. With strong factory operations experience and a customer-first mindset, this leader will be accountable for operational excellence, risk management, and sustained delivery performance.

Key responsibilities

• Leadership & Site Management

  • Lead Etched’s Taiwan-based operations team, setting priorities and building local execution capability.

  • Oversee end-to-end operations including manufacturing, supply chain readiness, quality, and delivery.

  • Drive organizational development and talent retention within the Taiwan team.

• Manufacturing Partner Management

  • Act as Etched’s senior representative with L10 manufacturing partner, managing daily execution and long-term capacity planning.

  • Ensure L10 partner establish best-in-class manufacturing process, testing process and infrastructure to support product requirement and meet program schedule, yield, quality and delivery goals

  • Negotiate recovery plans, drive escalations to closure, and maintain executive-level visibility

  • Own production KPIs (output, WIP, yield, cycle time, cost) and report status to Etched leadership.

  • Coordinate NPI-to-MP transitions, including readiness for materials, test, and factory resources.

• Strategic Alignment

  • Partner with HQ on demand forecasting and capacity planning to ensure factory readiness.

  • Provide manufacturability, test, and quality feedback into product development.

  • Build dashboards and reporting structures to give HQ visibility into Taiwan operations.

You may be a good fit if you have

• 20+ years of experience in system manufacturing operations.

• Proven track record leading end-to-end factory operations, including P&L ownership.

• Experience managing Tier 1 contract manufacturers in Taiwan or Asia.

• Strong leadership skills with history of managing large cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, supply chain).

• Fluent in Mandarin and English; strong communication skills with executives and customers.

• Expertise in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and yield/cost optimization.

Strong candidates may also have experience with

• Experience in datacenter hardware, AI ASIC, or server manufacturing.

• Exposure to advanced packaging (e.g., HBM, CoWoS) and system-level integration.

• Prior startup or high-growth environment leadership.

How we’re different

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taipei, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
