As Medical Advisor for Oncology, you will be the point of contact for external experts (EE) and other stakeholders on scientific and medical topics, spending 40% of your time on external engagement activities developing long-term, high-quality relationships with customers using a high level of professionalism and best practices. You will leverage this relationship to gain valuable insight and feedback from EEs and the healthcare community on GSK products and services, as well as medical and scientific information, to understand the healthcare environment, the patient journey and the unmet need in the Therapeutic Area (TA).

In this role you will…

  • Function as the scientific expert and maintain a detailed understanding of the TA. Maintain a deep appreciation and understanding of the science, evidence and value proposition for GSK medicines and other non-GSK treatment options in the TA.
  • Establish & manage scientific/clinical relations and gather insights from EEs. Accountable for driving knowledge steps within defined and agreed group of EEs.
  • Establish & manage relations with national payers/stakeholders influencing the access to GSK medicines (e.g. drive regional payer advisory boards, insights seeking, presentation of budget impact models).
  • Build a strong partnership within the brand team and cross functional team (medical, access, commercial) and proactively provide input/insights to the team objectives and planning. Take an active medical role in strategic account planning/key account management.
  • Work closely with the Country Medical Director (CMD) to lead implementation of the medical strategy; drive the local clinical plan/activities, own budget dedicated for medical activities, ensure necessary internal medical training for local GSK team.
  • Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal GSK medical team and its affiliates providing value-added insights and feedback from the community designed to improve medical, commercial and drug development planning and service provision.
  • Fully understand and always meet the requirements in the GSK Standards for Scientific Engagement (POL-GSK-002 and STD-GSK-002), External Interactions by Medical and R&D Staff (STD-GSKF-415) and, where relevant to promotional activities, the GSK Code of Practice for Promotion and Customer Interactions (STD-GSK-401).
  • Fully understand and comply with local codes of practice, guidelines and legal acts to ensure the strictest requirements are met particularly with respect to delivery of promotional versus non-promotional information.

Why you? 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Medical doctor or PhD in relevant subject, or a significant pharmaceutical industry experience in a role successfully engaging in scientific exchange with external experts.
  • Prior experience in pharma and at least 3 years of experience in medical affairs, preferably in oncology
  • Experience in Oncology- solid tumours, gynaecology, gastrointestinal tumours, lung cancer
  • Fluent in Finnish and English, speaking and writing.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (e.g., presenting at national or international congresses) history of previous working with external experts.
  • Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in these areas.
  • experience evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based medicine.
