About the Role

The Clinical Resource Nurse is responsible for the clinical support and professional development of nurses on 6 West.  The Clinical Resource Nurse in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager and Practice Development Nurse,  ensure that the nursing team deliver high quality care for patients within the clinical area through delivery of clinical skills training, bedside support and mentoring.  Furthermore they will be responsible for their own professional development in order to develop and maintain expert clinical skills and knowledge.  This position does not carry a clinical case load.  The responsibilities of the Clinical Reosurce Nurse is within the inpatient clinical area of Cancer Services.

  • Assist and support staff in the planning and delivery of antineoplastic medications and supportive care treatment for people with cancer

  • Be responsible for providing direct clinical support, instruction and mentoring for nurses

  • Provide leadership to foster a culture of facilitated learning, to achieve best evidence and informed practice outcomes for people with cancer

  • Identification of learning requirements for nursing staff and provide clinical support as directed by the Practice Development Nurse and Nurse Unit Manager

  • Liaise with the Practice Development Nurse and Nurse Unit Manager regarding clinical performance concerns

  • Orientation of new staff

  • Facilitation of clinical and local competencies

  • Act as a role model for all nurses

Classifications for this position will range from YU11 ($102,278.80 per annum) pro rata

Your Contribution

  • Registered in Division 1 with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board and current Practicing Certificate.

  • Bachelor / Masters Degree in Nursing (Entry to Practice)

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience within haematology/oncology speciality

  • Preceptorship experience
