Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled Software Development Engineer to design, build, and maintain new/existing applications as well as scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. This role supports data-driven applications, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives across cloud and big data platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and a strong foundation in data processing and transformation.


Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in data engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in Python for data ingestion, transformation, and automation workflows.
  • Solid understanding of Java, JavaScript framework like Angular/React or Vue.js)
  • Solid understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Experience building ETL/ELT workflows and scalable data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure acceptable).
  • Exposure to big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka.
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
  • Understanding of data modeling, data quality, and governance principles.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, analysts, and developers.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time data streaming tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Google Pub/Sub).
  • Hands-on experience with GCP services like BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and EMR/EHR systems (Epic is a plus).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Octopus).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with distributed data systems and performance tuning.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer, Tableau Desktop Specialist) are a plus.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$72,100.00 - $144,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
