About ThedaCare!

Summary :

The Security Officer maintains security and safety of people and property on ThedaCare campuses by patrolling areas on foot or by vehicle, and enforcing ThedaCare and government rules and regulations. Responds to emergencies and emergency codes. Serves as a liaison for the safety department and facilities operations after hours to troubleshoot calls for facilities management. Coordinates after-hours calls with the boiler operator on duty at ThedaCare campuses, where applicable. Works with patient care to create safety plans for team members and patients.

Job Description:

This is a varied shift position. The security officer assigned to this position will be required to work a minimum of three eight-hour work shifts each month.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Follows state laws related to “holds,” and follows law enforcement practices for “forced continuum.” Follows state and federal laws related to MOAB and other disaster training protocols.

2. Develops and supports relationships both internally and externally with law enforcement and emergency services to create an environment of trust and professional respect.

3. Investigates security related incidents timely and accurately, and documents findings on an incident report form using current technology.

4. Demonstrates competence when responding to agitation/violent behavior of an individual requiring verbal de-escalation and/or physical restraint.

5. Opens and coordinates processes with incident command during any disaster or incident that has escalated.

6. Assists emergency room with hazardous decontamination systems.

7. Collaborates with multiple disciplines to effectively and efficiently work with others to provide assistance to patients, families, team members, or general public to achieve desired resolution to problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED

• Three years of security experience preferred

• Eligibility to obtain a Wisconsin Concealed Carry License

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Can be obtained during security officer training.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance

• Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Frequent sitting with movement throughout the facility

• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock

• Occasional high noise level in work environment

• Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents

• Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

• Use of computers throughout the work day

• Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
