The Credentialing Coordinator researches and reviews the professional qualifications of clinicians to practice medicine in their field, ensures files are processed according to NCQA and LT standards, and assesses risk. This role is accountable for the initial and renewal credentialing of clinicians as assigned. The Credentialing Coordinator enters clinician information in the database and processes documents as needed. This role performs special projects as assigned.

Process Credentialing Requests - 75%

Processes credentialing files; assists with any outstanding items to complete the process

Performs all documentation tasks on a credentialing file

Updates database for every file with the most current information; maintains document database

Resolves or appropriately escalates inquiries and concerns

Proactively communicates information and updates to Production, CVO partners, and Management

Research, Gather, and Analyze Data for Risk Assessment - 25%

Performs 90% of the risk assessment process by researching and analyzing the professional qualifications of assigned clinician - includes evaluating CV’s and clinician narratives and researching malpractice cases, license sanctions and revocations, work history gaps, discrepancies, terminations, de-privileging, etc.

Runs and analyzes Primary Source Verification to identify risk

Presents findings to the JH Risk Management department for risk assessment and recommendation

Keeps Management informed of risk uncovered during discovery phase

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE)

May work on special projects or other duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY

May communicate with clinicians, clients, and state boards


QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

1+ year of related experience preferred
