Position Summary

CVS Health is seeking a hands-on, passionate, and forward-thinking Software Development Engineer/Lead to join a dynamic and rapidly evolving team at the forefront of digital health innovation. This role is ideal for individuals who are excited about building AI-driven capabilities and leveraging emerging technologies such as generative AI, agentic AI, and intelligent automation to transform the future of healthcare. 

As part of the Aetna Technology organization, you will Design, develop, and implement digital solutions and systems by applying advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the overall technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects.

In this role, you will: 

• Leverages expertise to design and implement efficient and scalable solutions that meet business requirements and quality standards.
• Contributes to solution design and architecture discussions, collaborating with architects and senior engineers.
• Provides input on technical feasibility, performance optimization, and scalability considerations to ensure that the overall solution meets the desired objectives.
• Participates in code reviews and ensures adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.
• Communicates and coordinates with team members to ensure alignment, provide technical insights, and contribute to decision-making processes.
• Contributes to the adoption of best practices, new technologies, and tools to enhance productivity, efficiency, and code quality.
• Participates in knowledge sharing activities, such as code reviews, tech talks, and workshops, to foster a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
• Works with other developers and team members to implement complex features, enhance existing functionality, and ensure the delivery of high-quality code.
• Provides guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them improve their technical skills and grow professionally.

Major Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and APIs using Java, Python and FastAPI. 

• Integrate and orchestrate LangChain and LLM-based services into production environments. 

• Build robust data preprocessing workflows for structured and unstructured data. 

• Develop and maintain integrations with external and internal RESTful services. 

• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver end-to-end AI solutions. 

• Implement DevOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker) 

• Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities in data services and APIs. 

• Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability. 

Required Qualifications

• 7-10 years work experience
• Adept at problem solving and decision making skills
• Adept at collaboration and teamwork
• Adept at growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others) skills
• Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills
• Adept at business intelligence

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) preferred.
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
