Why this role matters:

As a Senior User Researcher you will play a strategic role across all stages of our design thinking process and work closely with both UX Designers and Product teams to deliver best in class experiences. You will be heavily involved and a key driver of understanding business strategy, customer needs and market context, formulating outcome-oriented hypotheses, validation and measurement, and post launch customer life-cycle management.

 

You will not only engage with but also advance and innovate in a range of research techniques, from quantitative statistical analysis to qualitative user interviews. As a senior researcher, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing research strategies, providing guidance to Design, Product and Engineering, and fostering a customer-centric culture throughout Vonage.

What you will do:

  • Develop and drive innovative research strategies that inform product development and feature prioritisation
  • Lead and manage the research roadmap, aligning it with business OKRs and stakeholder expectations
  • Collaborate with the Head of Design to evolve and implement research and customer principles at Vonage
  • Serve as the authoritative voice of the customer, influencing key decisions across the organisation
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on research methodologies to members of the Design team, Product teams, and Engineering teams
  • Establish and maintain research best practices, ensuring high-quality outputs across all projects
  • Translate complex research findings into actionable insights for various stakeholders
  • Contribute to the broader UX community through thought leadership and knowledge sharing
  • Understand requirements and where appropriate, challenge the approach, backed up with sound customer, business and market insight and data
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering and Design to deliver validated Human Centred Design Solutions throughout the entire design process from discovery through to delivery and beyond.
  • Work closely with remote international teams.

 

What you will bring:

  • Extensive experience in user research, with a proven track record of impact in product development
  • Possess deep expertise in a wide range of research methodologies and their practical applications
  • Demonstrate strong strategic thinking, able to connect user needs with business objectives and product strategy
  • Excel at synthesising complex data sets and communicating insights to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and guide non-research teams in adopting user-centric approaches
  • Are adept at stakeholder management and can influence decision-making at all levels of the organisation
  • Champion user-centred design principles and can advocate for them effectively across different teams
  • Thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments and can adapt to changing priorities
  • Continuously seek to innovate and improve research practices
  • Led co-creation, research and testing activities
  • Formed close relationships and earned trust with stakeholders
  • Established best practices and refined ways of working. 
  • Provide context and coaching for other team members in ways of working, processes and practices
  • Guiding and mentoring members of your team to support their individual progression in Decision Making and Accountability, Planning & Organisational skills, Coaching and Peer Development

What is required for application:

  • Ability to cultivate an environment of ego-less teamwork and cooperation, and build partnerships across the organisation to enhance and drive the value of research and UX.
  • Ability to articulate and advocate for UX and CX principles, strategy, and theory with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives.
  • Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity and change during a project
  • Extensive UX Research experience
  • Portfolio with case studies of shipped work demonstrating impactful UX Research leadership and exemplary understanding of user-centred design principles.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and partnering closely with product management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organisation.
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Research,  or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in user research methodologies.

  • Extensive UX Research experience
  • An available portfolio
  • Experience working in a collaborative team, partnering closely with product management to define use cases and requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate insights clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organisation.
  • Passion for learning and innovation, balanced with business needs and customer expectations.
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team as projects need.
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Research or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in a variety of research tools
  • Experience in user research methodologies.
  • Strong bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Passion for the role of research within an organisation and the ability to develop and mentor talent
