For our Business Unit High Voltage Products in Zurich-Oerlikon, we are looking for an R&D Test Engineer to strengthen our R&D Team for High Voltage Circuit Breakers development.
In this challenging role, you will be a key contributor to the Research and Development with focus on the testing of high voltage interrupters. In the environment of both R&D and customer projects high power testing is a crucial part for the development and certification of high voltage switchgear. As part of your tasks, you will be working together with several internal stakeholders and play a key role for a deep understanding of high voltage interrupters and become a demanded senior engineer for Hitachi Energy global activities in this area.
Your responsibilities
Conduct High Voltage Testing: Plan and execute high power and high voltage tests in both internal and external laboratories, ensuring adherence to international standards
Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with our technical teams to analyze testing results and translate insights into design improvements
Documentation and Reporting: Generate comprehensive technical documentation and reports to support project outcomes and knowledge sharing
Drive Continuous Improvement: Play a key role in our testing core team, constantly seeking ways to enhance testing methodologies and processes
Promote Safety: Champion health and safety standards across all testing activities
Support Strategic Decisions: Leverage your expertise to inform management decisions and contribute to our global R&D efforts
Your background
Educational Background: Master’s degree in electrical engineering, high voltage engineering, or a related field from a recognized university or applied sciences institution
R&D Experience: Prior experience in the development of power equipment, particularly high voltage switchgear, is highly valued
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with medium/high voltage systems, high power testing, and electrical circuit design is an advantage
Team Collaboration: Strong ability to work effectively with a diverse range of colleagues, from assembly fitters to project managers and technical experts
Software Skills: Basic CAD knowledge and experience with post-processing tools like Diadem, Python, and Excel.
Language Proficiency: Excellent command of both German and English, written and spoken.
Willingness to Travel: Flexibility to travel up to 30% of your working time
