THE ROLE:

The NorthStar Quality Department Co-Op student will play a key role in supporting the Quality Control team achieve their business goals.  NorthStar will support this individual during their internship so that they develop key skills and experience that that will set them up for success in their future career. Supporting the broader organization, the individual will interact with NorthStar personnel in Cork, London and Memphis offices as well key McKesson private labels suppliers. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to sample all aspects of NorthStar’s quality organisation with full training provided, along with varied desk based and project work. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in laboratory testing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist team members to liaise effectively with internal departments and external suppliers to support Quality Control processes
  • Support the launch of several new products in the US by being involved in pre-commercial Quality activities, including receipt and review of technical data
  • Ensure private label compliance to quality standards prior to acceptance and release for shipment or distribution by:
    • Reviewing batch documentation to enable product release
    • Maintaining QC records and supporting documentation
    • Monitoring of FDA guidance to support compliance to current requirements  
  • Support private label laboratory testing and stability programme by:  
    • Tracking and recording stability data via eSTAR software system
    • Assisting in laboratory HPLC Method development 
  • Participate in the preparation of supplier scorecards and site metrics
  • Provide quality oversight of manufacturing suppliers by supporting deviation review
  • Assist in the drafting and management of quality documents, such as Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Provide operational support to team members by assisting with ad hoc quality support activities as required.

REQUIREMENTS:  

3rd year science student (Chemistry/Biology) course with some exposure to Laboratory instrumentation.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.  In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
