The Role:

As a Quality Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining the quality strategy, systems, and standards across our Uniontown manufacturing facility and its supply chain. You will lead internal audits, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. This role offers a dynamic blend of office and shop floor engagement, with opportunities to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured problem-solving efforts to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage and maintain the CAPA and nonconformance systems in alignment with internal and external standards.
  • Work as point of contact for the quality organization facility wide with focus on specific value streams.
  • Investigate product and process issues to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Become an integral part of the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Maintain and update Quality documentation to reflect current business needs.
  • Review and respond to quality complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Prepare and facilitate Management Review Meetings, including data collection and reporting.
  • Organize and manage internal audit programs and corrective action tracking.
  • Conduct Quality Systems audits and mentor internal auditors.
  • Coordinate and host external audits (e.g., ISO, NSF, UL).
  • Deliver training on quality systems and business processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure process integrity.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Kaizen initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, and quality systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Solid background in statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, PPAP reports, and design documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000, SPC, PPAP, calibration, and inspection systems.
  • Experience in machine shop environments, plastics injection molding, or metal casting.
  • Familiarity with automated measuring equipment (e.g., CMMs, vision systems).

Preferred:

  • ASQ-CQE certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Office, Visio, Project Manager, Windchill, Salesforce, BPCS, ShopVue, Workday, and PC-DMIS.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role involves both office and manufacturing floor activities. Appropriate PPE and safety protocols are required. Physical demands may include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting (25–35 lbs). Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to meet customer and operational needs.
