Chemours is seeking a Production Leader to join our growing Thermal & Specialized Solutions team! This position will report directly to the Operations Manager at our location in La Porte, Texas.
The primary responsibility is to meet the business and operations objectives for the sulfuric acid manufacturing unit. This role will manage overall quality, resourcing, and scheduling of the assets assigned and continually work to improve the capabilities of the area and operation of the assets to meet business objectives. This role requires strong operations knowledge and understanding of work processes as well as strong business/commercial understanding.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure safe and environmentally sound operation and maintenance of a high hazard process.
Act as the primary operations interface and point of contact with supply chain for coordination of production. Act as a leader to align operations to the top business priorities and be accountable to develop and execute a plan based on these priorities.
Provides direction to the maintenance and technical teams in support of the businesses and serves as the point of contact for new growth capital requirements.
Accountable for meeting Total Cost of Manufacture objectives (fixed and variable)
Champions best practices and effective management of systems and tools to drive continuous improvement toward increased Overall Equipment Effectiveness and efficiency. Adjust production priorities as necessary.
Drive the quality culture to ensure asset compliance with ISO 9001.
Routinely interacts with Operations Manager for asset performance.
Works with team to build maintenance schedule that aligns with production schedule and asset needs.
Creates an optimized asset schedule to include production, maintenance, and service to operations activities.
Integrates Capital/Change of Design construction plan into asset schedule.
Interfaces with maintenance and contract administration on work performed by site maintenance and contractors.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree in science or technology with minimum three years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment or other technical field; OR minimum five years of operations experience
Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, oral, and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to work with a diverse population of employees and contractors
Demonstrated understanding of safety procedures and corporate safety philosophy
Demonstrated capability to drive for results
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
Familiarity with Process Safety Management within highly hazardous process operations, preferably in the chemicals industry
Work experience in processes handling highly toxic materials (HTM’s)
Previous line supervision experience
Experience driving Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation of production systems
Familiarity with the SAP modules in cost management and Work Management Process (WMP)
