About the position: 

We are seeking a talented and experienced SAP Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of data architecture solutions within our SAP environment. The Lead SAP Data Architect will play a crucial role in ensuring that our SAP systems are optimized from a data architecture, data management, governance, and analytics perspective. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SAP data structures, data modelling techniques, and integration methods, ideally within an FMCG environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead our expanding data architecture function, 
  • Lead the design and development of (predominantly SAP) data models, schemas, and data integration solutions to support business requirements.
  • Ensure the data model and architecture effectively support the business requirements whilst maintaining standards and best practice.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional consultants, and developers to understand data needs and requirements.
  • Support the design of data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and quality of data in conjunction with our data Stewards.
  • Define and maintain data architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices for SAP systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend SAP data management tools and technologies to enhance data processing, storage, and analysis capabilities, and support 
  • Work closely with SAP Basis and infrastructure teams to optimize SAP data performance and scalability.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to SAP development teams on data-related issues and challenges.
  • Develop data migration strategies and oversee the execution of data migration activities during SAP implementation projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in SAP data architecture and analytics.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on SAP data architecture, providing training and mentorship to other team members.

 

So, what does it take to be successful in this role? 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Proven experience (10 years) working as an SAP Data Architect or in a similar role, with a focus on SAP data modelling and architecture. Ideally in in FMCG.

Deep understanding of SAP data structures, including S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, and other SAP modules, and ideally Data Analytics.

Strong knowledge of SAP data integration techniques, including SAP Data Services, SAP PI/PO, and SAP Cloud Integration/BTP/Datasphere.

Experience operating within a data governance framework

Familiarity with SAP data migration methodologies and tools, including SAP LT Replication Server and SAP Rapid Data Migration.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design complex data solutions to meet business requirements.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ideally SAP certification in relevant areas (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate - Data Modeling with SAP BW/4HANA) is a plus.
