About your team: 

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

As a Category Specialist in Power, you’ll be at the forefront of developing and executing innovative category strategies. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders and category leads to drive procurement projects that deliver outstanding commercial outcomes. Become a vital part of our Infrastructure team, a group of dedicated procurement professionals leading strategic projects involving energy assets across Centrica, with an exciting international scope. Your expertise will help shape the future of our energy solutions!

Location: UK (talk to us about flexible working)

The day to day –

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish a dynamic wave plan of procurement activities, considering new business requirements, strategic goals, emerging risks, and expiring supplier contracts.
  • Apply a strong understanding of market dynamics (using tools like Porter’s Five Forces and Kraljic) and cost drivers specific to goods, services, and technology to develop effective category strategies.
  • Lead procurement tenders in alignment with the category strategy.
  • Drive commercial negotiations to secure the best deals.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts in collaboration with Commercial Legal and specialist legal teams.
  • Develop Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities in line with Centrica’s SRM framework.
  • Manage the contract governance process in collaboration with business stakeholders and the Group Contracts Committee.
  • Collaborate with risk SME teams to manage and mitigate risks.
  • Optimize the supplier base within the category, including managing buying channels and the category playbook for tactical sourcing.

About you –

  • Degree in procurement, business, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent work experience in a large-scale procurement organisation).
  • Direct procurement experience in areas such as:
    • EPC procurement
    • Large construction projects with FIDIC / NEC Contracts
