The Personal Banker III at UMB plays a unique and pivotal role as both an expert in strengthening customer relationships, recommending products and services.  Encouraging branch achievements and supporting team members to ensure progress to essential activities and behaviors, stepping in to support the Branch Manager, and building deep relationships with your Regional Delivery Manager, specialists, and Personal Banking team.

As a Personal Banker, you’ll receive extensive training on UMB’s products and services, the sales process, and offering financial solutions. You can also expect to work closely with UMB leaders, learning from their mentorship and expertise.

You’ll support the branch team by:

  • Supporting the Branch Manager (BM) by consistently and clearly communicating and reinforcing priorities with the team.  In the absence of the branch manager, you will oversee the entire branch staff.
  • Encouraging branch achievement of performance targets by managing assisting with daily huddles and intra-day checkpoints with team members to ensure progress to essential activities and behaviors.
  • Delivering the Unparalleled Customer Experience by closely managing the choreography of customer interactions within the branch and refining team scheduling for business continuity, client experience and support of key business development initiatives.
  • Ensuring the branch is always operating in a safe and sound manner by following applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines. 
  • Assisting the Branch Manager in maintaining satisfactory audit ratings, managing critical operational metrics to minimize risks and losses, maintaining high standards for security and account opening activities and resolution of customer escalations.
  • Acting as the interim Branch Manager during times the Branch Manager is offsite, supporting the Personal Banking Team and daily functions of the Branch.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You’ll serve UMB customers by:

  • Asking personalized questions to convert every customer interaction into an opportunity to learn more about their financial goals and connect them to solutions that will meet their needs
  • Individually creating and managing a successful loan pipeline with strong closing conversions by focusing time and efforts on prospecting and cross-selling home equity loans and lines of credit, unsecured personal loans, auto loans and mortgage referrals 
  • Creating sales opportunities and growing UMB's customer base by applying keen product knowledge to source consumer lending opportunities through networking, customer conversations, business development, and proactive sourcing
  • Learning processes like transactions, managing a cash drawer and completing bank documentation that you consistently perform according to industry and legal standards. 
  • Challenging your daily key performance metrics to elevate personal goals, while balancing competing priorities and providing the unparalleled customer experience
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Have a HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Have at least three years of retail banking sales experience or other relevant experience, including a proven ability to achieve sales targets  
  • Have the ability to work branch hours, including weekends and some evenings
  • Can obtain an NMLS registration within 90 days
  • Are passionate about leading and developing others
  • Enjoy coaching others as a sales mentor
  • Thrive in a high-energy, sales-driven team, and leverage daily coaching and feedback to polish your sales outcomes
  • Use your expert product knowledge and conversation skills to build upon your customers' needs and make a true difference in their financial lives 
  • Communicate in a compelling manner, project a positive image, and enjoy solving problems and creating positive outcomes 
  • Demonstrate attention to detail whether completing documents or explaining features and benefits 
  • Have the ability to learn products, services, and procedures quickly and accurately
  • Have basic math skills and ability to problem solve while operating within established risk parameters/tolerances
  • Demonstrate ability to make personal connections, engage and educate customers and teammates, ask open-ended questions, and listen to establish trust and build lasting relationships
  • Have strong business development capabilities for proactively growing your own personal book of business by successfully using campaign offers, prospecting leads, service-to-sales conversations as well as leveraging centers of influence for referrals.

Bonus points if you:

  • Have a college degree or military equivalent strongly preferred
  • Are bilingual

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $38,910.00 - Maximum: $90,090.00
