The Job

The Mining Technician I is responsible for monitoring data center equipment performance and performing preventive maintenance checks. This position registers repair tickets and updates their status (Repair Completed, In-Repair, etc.) as maintenance is performed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Reporting project status, issues, and constraints; update and monitor Minder and JIRA as needed.
  • Proactive monitoring of all production systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability, providing remote hands support for other sites as required
  • Preventive maintenance of data center equipment.
  • Perform hardware racking and cabling, including network switches, miners, PDUs (with temperature and humidity sensors), network gear, and servers. Ensure proper installation and connection of power and network cables (copper, fiber, etc.).
  • Create and maintain cohesive and accurate data center hardware maps, including asset management for ancillary hardware.
  • Provide intermediate level troubleshooting and support services for client servers and network devices, as well as correction and routing/escalation when situations require.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting, including diagnosing switch issues, verifying connectivity, and creating or repairing Cat5/Cat6 cable terminations to ensure reliable network performance.
  • Maintain and update company databases to ensure all information remains accurate and current.
  • Work alongside level II technicians to gain proficiency in troubleshooting basic electrical issues, including diagnosing power distribution unit (PDU) problems, verifying connections, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Work alongside level II technicians to develop expertise in monitoring and maintaining proper phase balancing of electrical systems, optimizing performance, reducing load imbalances, and ensuring system reliability and efficiency.
  • Process hardware Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs).
  • Help with the deployment of machines (unboxing, racking etc.).
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team, with co-workers/ teammates, and leaders across the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • High attention to detail, basic troubleshooting procedures, and basic computer knowledge required.
  • Associate’s degree or Technical School certification in relevant field preferred.

Occasional travel between data centers may be required as needed.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a data center environment. This role routinely uses standard data center equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, voltmeter’s, hash board testers, scissor lifts, forklifts, ladders, and screwdrivers etc. While performing these duties the employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments. 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift to 20 pounds.
