Job Description

The Vice President of Product , reporting directly to the Chief Business Officer, will have direct responsibility for product strategy and execution at Butterfly Network.  This person will develop the strategic product roadmap tied to our product vision, lead a team of product managers to deliver value via new capabilities and innovation and work with our leadership team to bring new product lines to market. This means working with Engineering, Clinical Strategy & Research, Operations, Customer Success, Sales, Marketing, and the entire executive team.

The Role:

  • Product Strategy & Vision: ​​Define and advance the product strategy and roadmap of Butterfly aligning with our overall strategic objectives and commercial goals.
  • Product Roadmap and Prioritization: Develop and communicate a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with business objectives and customer needs. Prioritize feature development, balancing short-term and long-term goals, financial impact, customer feedback, market trends, and technical feasibility.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, CS, and Clinicl to conceive, build, test, and launch viable data products across core market segments.
  • Team Leadership:  Hire, develop, and mentor a world-class team of product professionals.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Performance:  Build strong working relationships across the company, including engineering teams, to regularly achieve buy-in that facilitates repeatable and consistent product delivery, from ideation, roadmap, development, launch, metrics reporting and ongoing enhancements.
  • User-Centric Design: Advocate for user-centric design principles and ensure a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points. Drive the development of intuitive, engaging, and innovative product experiences that delight users and differentiate our offerings in the market.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization:  Implement data-driven decision-making processes and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track product performance. Monitor product adoption, user engagement, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and drive iterative enhancements. 
  • Product Marketing:  Develop value prop and messaging across product offerings that integrate with our market map
  • Monetization & pricing strategy:  Make informed decisions around monetization, pricing, and product enhancements that achieve MRR & ARR growth objectives.
  • Competitive Analysis : Keep abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor offerings. Identify opportunities for differentiation and continuously refine our value proposition.
  • Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 15+ years product strategy and/or management experience, within enterprise SaaS (preferably startup) and B2B health tech or medical device companies.
  • 5+ years work experience in the hospital/healthcare domain.
  • Track record of product invention and commercialization achieving key measurements of success. A strong command of go-to-market is key!
  • Experience in driving the product roadmap with an emphasis on service-oriented architecture, ensuring alignment between business objectives and SOA-based solutions. The candidate should be able to influence decision-making and foster a culture that prioritizes reusable, maintainable, and scalable services.
  • Deep strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights and customer needs into product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated experience leading product teams, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and coaching and function capacity and capabilities development. 
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills, with proven ability to inspire and manage high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills - speaks clearly and articulately in a way that resonates with others
  • Holds a strong command of software technologies and can translate that into creative, innovative solutions that support new customer growth, existing customer retention, and expansion.
  • Experience leading product strategy and building medical software, in high growth, innovative environments

Nice to have's:

  • Software Product Management focusing on building medical information systems such as: RIS, PACS, HIS or EMR solutions.
  • Expert knowledge of interoperability between medical devices and healthcare IT.
  • Understanding of clinical workflow in a medical imaging environment.
  • Familiarity with DICOM, HL7, PACS, VNA, RIS, EMR, and Medical Imaging Devices.

 

Location

Compensation 

Our estimated salary for this role based in NYC is between $250,000 - $300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
