Caterpillar is seeking a 2nd Shift Operations/Logistics Production Manager in Clayton, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a production schedule, assembly technicians, warehouse associates, quality auditors and the overall performance of the operational pattern. This position will lead a small team coordinating the final assembly and audit of prime products as well as warehouse replenishment for the extended operations on site.
What you can look forward to in this role:
· Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean product environment.
· Determine processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.
· Tie in daily with production management to designate workload, priorities and sequence for work assigned.
· Determine overtime need, determine priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary.
· Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
· Ensure the quality of product produced and conforms to Caterpillars Quality Policy while maintaining cost.
· Ensure necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner
· Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO certification, etc.
· Train and develop of staff, perform time keeping, estimate personnel needs, assign, meet completion dates, and ensure consistent application of organizational needs.
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
· Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
· Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
· Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
· Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
· Shop floor experience and a mechanical aptitude.
· Prior experience a leadership role
· Strong human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
· Proficiency with all Microsoft office products.
· Previous supervisory experience
· Previous supply chain or logistics experience
Additional Information:
The primary location for this position is Clayton.
Domestic relocation assistance is not available
2nd Shift will be 4 ten-hour shifts per week with possible OT over Friday night

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
