A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as a Logistics Program Manager Returns, you will be responsible for running global returns improvement programs. The Global Returns Team oversees the end to end returns process and aims to prevent returns to Medtronic and make the process smarter to reduce SOGL. This role reports to the Director Product Returns who is also the Global Process owner Returns and oversees and directs the work of up to 100+ people. The Program you will be working on is directly reporting to the Global Operations Leadership team. The Program Manager Returns will work within the Global Returns Program owned by the Director Product Returns. The goal is to significantly reduce costs incurred by returns trough implementing process improvements that prevent returns and enable smarter processing. The program consists of 10 workstreams of which 2 will be directly led by the new to be hired Program Manager. The scope of both programs is global with a strong link to the EMEA returns process managed from the Heerlen EOC DC. Therefore, it is important to be hands-on and quickly grasp an understanding of the operational process. Next to that it is essential to understand the End-to-End Value stream for returns and link the complexity you find to opportunities for improvement by the global program.
We are looking for a dynamic, financially savvy person that likes a challenge, can well work independently with regular reviews with the director and periodic alignment with the program leadership and stakeholders. We are looking for someone that likes to understand complexity, chase answers and is able to hold others accountable for agreed actions and commitments to deliver the program results. You need to be able to translate goals into actionable plans and report on this on director and operator level. You see risks and issues, identify them, flag them in an actionable manner and follow up to make sure risks to the program are eliminated. This is a flexible position with the expectation to work in the Medtronic Heerlen office up to 2 to 3 days a week. The remainder of the time work from home is possible. The percentage of international travel is 10-15%.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Controls the flow of raw and finished goods, services, and information between point of origin through receipt at the manufacturing site, through to customer placement in order to meet customer or manufacturing requirements
- Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration, and related functions
- Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing and financial objectives
- Builds relationships with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers through the resolution of delivery issues
- Integrates market intelligence from operating entities, distribution, transportation, suppliers, and customers to continuously improve competitive position
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area
- Advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization
- A bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
