Job Summary
Working under the general direction of a collaborating physician, the advanced practice clinician (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides direct care to patients in a high-volume clinical service. The APP develops, implements, and evaluates a program of specialized health care for a select patient population with cardiac arrhythmia. The APP will be intimately involved in direct care and education of patients and should have experience working with arrhythmias and cardiac devices, such as implantable cardiac defibrillators, implantable loop recorders, and pacemakers. The APP promotes a collaborative relationship among various health care professionals toward continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. The APP serves as a role model for professional medical practice in the management of patients with cardiovascular disease.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.
• Follows and manages patients in collaboration with an attending physician in the Inpatient setting (Specifically the EP lab and on the inpatient EP consult service).
• Provides peri procedural care including admissions, discharges and manages post-procedural complications.
• Performs and records the patient history and physical exam.
• Utilizes knowledge & training to identify, prevent or solve complex and/or recurring patient care problems.
• Collaborates with health care professionals to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinate resources.
• Writes orders which are in accord with current guidelines.
• Orders/obtains routine laboratory and related studies.
• Participates in the development of formal and informal educational programs for health care professionals
• Facilitates patient movement through the health-care system and efficient use of resources through collaboration, as well as interaction with outpatient care providers within and outside our healthcare system.
• Maintains the standards, required credentials, and educational requirements specific to the position.
• Takes responsibility for leadership and participation on committees and task forces of the health care system.
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current health care practice/research.
• Opportunity to assist in EP lab procedures after a period on the inpatient service
Education
Master's Degree Nursing required

Experience
Experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant 0-1 year preferred
