Job Description Summary:

We are helping rethink how we use data at PayPal to fulfill the needs of our customers (both internal and external). We drive the creation of delightful, frictionless, and compliant payment experiences while maximizing the value of our data. In this role you will get an opportunity to support the implementation and adoption of the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) program across the company. As an Enterprise Data Steward within the Enterprise Governance organization, you will guide and run day to day stewardship efforts, across Business Units, that supports data governance, data quality, metadata, master data, data architecture workstreams. This position will require a significant amount of collaboration across all business functions within PayPal Core, its adjacencies, Information Security and Privacy. The Main business unit focus of this position will be in support of Consumer and Merchant Data.

Job Description:

1) Data Requirements/Systems Analysis   

  • Capture documentation and analysis of data flows/traceability from end-to-end, with goal of determining enterprise data impacts.
  • Support business units in articulating and documenting requirements and data mappings for enterprise data management processes and capabilities.
  • Effectively communicate success criteria to the data management development and testing teams.
  • Lead evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of new data management and governance technologies to support data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, data architecture, data modeling and data integration efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and promote new enterprise data management practices.
  • Will have responsibilities for data domain/subject area stewardship related to Consumer and Merchant Data.

2) Data Program Measurement/Support

  • Measure KPIs to monitor and track business unit’s progress towards data management and governance Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Support all activities associated with the various Global Data Governance forums.
  • Work with business and technical data Stewards and key business stakeholders to understand business impacts, user requirements, and the feasibility of data management solutions.
  • Ensure that all data management and governance activities within the Business Unit are in line with the overall business objectives and make sure that Data Governance is included in project implementation.
  • Support integration of PayPal’s data governance into existing processes – PDLC, SDLC, Architecture Review and Risk Control Processes.
  • Provide end-to-end data governance coverage across business functions to achieve adoption of data governance process, standards, and practices, and business value.
  • Own alignment of business units’ data stewardship function with enterprise data management program to facilitate data ownership and accountability.
  • Implement data governance procedures, processes, artifacts, documents, and training materials required to operate the Data Stewardship Program.
  • Build positive and influential relationships across organizations through strong and collaborative interactions, proactive planning, and decisive leadership.

 

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of enterprise data experience-understanding of data creation and consumption across the enterprise
  • Experience with data management and data governance tools such as Collibra
  • Experience with payments platforms and products
  • Ability to read/understand Entity Relationship and logical data models
  • Strong MS Office skills required
  • Strong knowledge of payment industry business processes, platforms, and products
  • Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate across diverse groups within PayPal
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Shows initiative and exhibits a “can-do” attitude
  • Able to see the “big picture”-the end-to-end connection points associated with data and systems
  • Display good verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Exhibit a passion for Data Management and Analysis

 

Education:

BA/BS degree in Systems Analysis and/or Engineering or related field
