For Linklaters in Warsaw, we are currently recruiting for the Data Governance Officer role.


About the Team

You will be welcomed into the Technology and Data team as a key member of the group. Working alongside colleagues across the business, the Technology and Data team is dedicated to delivering robust digital solutions, maintaining high standards of data integrity, and unlocking insights that inform decision-making. The role offers exposure to a broad range of initiatives, from system enhancements and data governance to emerging technologies and digital transformation projects. You will be responsible for

  • Implementing and maintaining the firm’s data governance framework ensuring data quality standards are consistently met.

  • Managing data quality metrics, KPIs and dashboards to track and evidence conformance to data governance policies.

  • Maintaining data lineage documentation to track data flows throughout the organisation.

  • Creating and managing a comprehensive data glossary to ensure consistent terminology across the firm.

  • Utilising Microsoft Purview to catalogue data assets and enforce data governance policies.

  • Conducting regular data quality assessments and implementing remediation plans.

  • Preparing regular reports on data governance activities for management.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and assess data needs, contributing to the design of solutions that align with Firm objectives.

  • Learning about the end-to-end data lifecycle and data controls, helping to identify data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management.

Apply if you

  • Have 3-5 years of experience within data governance or data management area.

  • Have a foundational understanding of data governance principles including data quality, data lineage, roles and responsibilities, inventory and documentation.

  • Are able to design and maintain dashboards for tracking conformance.

  • Have practical experience with Microsoft Purview or similar data governance tools.

  • Have proven experience working with cross-functional teams, gathering requirements, and translating them into actionable solutions.

  • Have a problem-solving mindset, with experience in identifying, resolving, and/or escalating data quality issues.

  • Are familiar with automation tools or processes to improve the efficiency of data management systems.

  • Are aware of existing and emerging data protection regulations, with the ability to apply them in a practical and compliant manner.

  • Have organisational skills, especially when it comes to coordinating complex activities like issue remediation or prioritisation among diverse teams.

  • Have an eye for detail, capable of helping maintain accurate and accessible documentation of data structures and sources.

  • Have an adaptable approach to learning about new tools, technologies, and best practices to support continuous improvement.

  • Have excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts in clear terms and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Have prior experience in a professional services or legal environment (desirable).

  • Are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
