As a Principal Engineer, R&D Software Engineering, you will work closely with Product Management and senior leaders to architect, design, and deliver high‑quality software solutions across Clario business lines. This role serves as a technical authority, shaping engineering strategy, architecture, and standards while ensuring solutions meet demanding requirements for scalability, performance, and quality.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Architect, design, develop, code, test, debug, and implement enterprise‑grade software across multiple platforms and third‑party services.
- Participate in and influence the testing lifecycle through test review, analysis, witnessing, and certification of software solutions.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and support to project team members across disciplines.
- Establish and uphold architecture, design, and technology standards for products and engineering initiatives.
- Serve as a top‑level technical contributor and specialist, providing consultation on complex, high‑impact projects.
- Evaluate software solutions, tools, industry trends, and emerging technologies to ensure product requirements are met with quality, scalability, and performance.
- Develop product prototypes that provide insight and serve as foundations for future product offerings.
- Provide technical or team leadership, including mentoring and influencing engineering best practices.
- Share project concepts, architectural decisions, and lessons learned internally and externally to advance engineering maturity.
- Collaborate with and support other functions across the organization as needed.
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience building enterprise software solutions.
- Experience in the life sciences or healthcare industry preferred.
- Strong experience designing and developing solutions within cloud‑based architectures.
- Solid understanding of software engineering frameworks, methodologies, and common design patterns.
- Experience with unit testing and design patterns that support testability and maintainability.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices; DevOps and cloud‑native solutions experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of risk management techniques in complex technical environments.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, process modeling, and database design.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, anticipate future needs, manage competing priorities, and lead through change.
