We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Desktop Support Technician (on a 15 months contract) to provide technical support in a fast-paced trading environment in our Tokyo Branch. As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the stability and functionality of trading systems, resolving technical issues, and ensuring optimal performance for our traders. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a strong understanding of trading platforms, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide end-user IT support for Tokyo branch, including troubleshooting devices, managing tickets, and handling hardware setup and replacement.
  • Support and maintain global systems in collaboration with regional and head office IT teams, ensuring stability across applications, infrastructure, networks, and security.
  • Manage incident response and ensure timely communication and escalation with relevant internal teams.
  • Contribute to global IT projects and head office-driven initiatives.
  • Maintain and administer local IT systems, including regulatory platforms, telephony, networking, and user access management.
  • Manage relationships with local vendors, coordinating system implementation, maintenance, and enhancements.
  • Support dealing room technology, including trader phones, broker lines, and related critical systems.
  • Oversee IT operations continuity, including power outage coordination, asset and inventory management, BCP site support, and office facilities-related IT activities.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • 4+ years experience as a Desktop Support Technician in a trading or financial services environment. BCP knowledge highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of trading platforms, including order management systems, market data feeds, and execution systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and Mac OS environments, network connectivity, and hardware-related issues.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and system administration.
  • Understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and routing concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with traders, developers, and support teams.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and remote desktop protocols is a plus.
  • Diploma or certification relevant to information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluency in Japanese language and English professional proficiency are mandatory.
