Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.
The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors.
Job Responsibilities:
Investment
- Contribute to team investment process and contribute to team management of assets
- Lead meetings with management of companies
- Attend all regular team meetings to discuss and present investment ideas
- Provide updates on company meetings and results at team meetings
- Represent abrdn in client meetings
Leadership/People Management
- Mentor and train junior team members
Marketing/Business Development
- Present the investment process to prospective clients
- Work closely with distribution team to win new mandates
Portfolio Administration
- Maintain model portfolios
- Plan and execute trades and ensure all trades are in line with requirements of client mandates.
Portfolio Construction/Management
- Assist in monitoring portfolio/portfolio activities in the course of portfolio management work
- Assist in portfolio construction e.g. planning and setting up trades
- Participate in generating trade ideas for funds managed on desk
- Assist in monitoring portfolios / portfolio activities in the course of portfolio management work
- Able to rebalance portfolios around corporate actions and deal with cash inflows and outflows
- Plan and execute trades and ensure all trades are in line with the requirements of client mandates
Research
- Undertake security and sector analysis and complete stock notes
- Keep up-to-date on sector, country and market developments and trends
- Country trips and produce investment trip reports
- To perform analysis of company results and provide results commentaries of portfolio holdings
Risk Management
- To maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance and dealing procedures
- To comply with all regulatory, legal, corporate and client mandates
Training and Development
- To build and maintain knowledge of abrdn investment process, products and allocated market/sector responsibilities
- To build and maintain knowledge of abrdn systems, including Charles River, Bloomberg
- To participate and attend Continual Professional development opportunities in order to maintain knowledge and skills
Job Requirements:
- A good Bachelor’s degree or Post-graduate degree
- CFA qualified (or working towards)
- Possess Fund manager License is a requirement
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in the relevant industry
- Strong academic performance combined with extracurricular interests and achievements
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Team player with ability to manage own workload
- Good influencing skills
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Thai
