3rd Shift Sanitation Technician

The Sanitation Associate is responsible for the overall cleaning of all Food Contact equipment in the Productions Areas. The Sanitation Associate will be required to monitor all cleaning and sanitizing of all Food Contact areas. The Sanitation Associate will ensure that all equipment is being cleaned per the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures. All Sanitation Associates will follow all instructions of the Land O’ Lakes policies. These tasks are required to be completed during a defined amount of time, so that the production schedule is not impacted negatively. The workload of the Sanitation Team varies daily but is required to be completed on time.

Shift: 8pm-4:30am, Mon-Fri (Occasional weekend shifts)

Pay Rate: $28.06

Associate Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to effectively understand all Master Sanitation Schedule Requirements for each Production Line.

  • Review Production schedule with Lead and understand the next day’s production schedule.

  • Responsible for effectively being able to set up Fillers and production lines in accordance with the schedule

  • Effectively conduct a Post Op inspection with the Quality Tech their assigned area of responsibility daily.

  • Responsible to effectively understand the ATP luminometer process, how to use the ATP swabs, and the importance of microbial cleanliness.

  • Conduct daily shift titrations of all Chemicals used by sanitation associate to ensure the chemicals are used in the proper concentration range. These titrations will be recorded on the titration log.

  • Responsible to effectively being able to disassemble all Kettle valves on last production day, clean, sanitize and rebuild if applicable.

  • Responsible to effectively disassemble all Fillers using hand tools from the Sanitation Tool Cart.

  • Manually clean any assigned Production equipment per Master Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures for all food contact equipment.

  • Responsible to effectively use and understand the importance of all PPE issued and report any issues with PPE to the Sanitation Lead promptly.

  • Update the Sanitation Lead or Sanitation Supervisor as equipment cleaning is completed during your shift.

  • Effectively complete the annual Ecolab Chemical Safety Training and pass the Ecolab test to maintain GHS rating current for Land O Lakes

  • Safely lock out and tag out all equipment assigned as necessary. Responsible to effectively start up and jog Filler lines and conveyer’s using correct LOTO process.

  • Responsible to effectively be able to complete basic troubleshooting steps of equipment during start up and shutdown to review for mechanical issues. Elevate any issues beyond your capability to maintenance tech for correction. i.e... (PLC or Timing issues).

  • Responsible to effectively fully understand the 16 sections of the Safety Data Sheet format.

  • Complete and turn in all Maintenance Red Tag to the Sanitation Lead for disposition of cleanliness.

  • Report to assigned work station on time at start up, and after breaks and lunches

  • Report all safety and GMP Violations to your Lead or Sanitation Supervisor immediately.

  • Communicate with QA Technician any broken or missing components of equipment being cleaned.

  • Complete drain cleaning within the written SSOP parameters.

  • Responsible to effectively work with Sanitation Team member to clean all kettles within 3 hrs.

  • Attend and successfully complete the annual Allergen Food Safety Training.

  • Responsible to effectively hook up and operate our CIP Circuits. This includes the product line circuit, silos and caramel skid circuits.

  • Walk the Line daily on CIP Start up. Report all discrepancies and shut down CIP if leaks are found.

  • Assist Production Team to complete Daily production prior to CIP and Clean up.

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Traits:

  • Safety/GMP requirements, Chemical Training required. Understand the Chemical Safety Data Sheet, Master Sanitation Schedule Compliance, and SOP cleaning requirements.

  • Possess basic mechanical skills to be able to use sanitation tools to disassemble and assemble all equipment during sanitation.

Physical Demands

  • Will need to be able to work in a cold and hot environment where temperatures can vary from 38° to 104° degrees.

  • Will need to be available to work Overtime, Weekends including Saturday and Sunday based on production needs.

  • Pushing/Pulling frequently

  • Lift Capacity: up to 25 lbs.

  • Standing Entire shift

  • Entire shift/Hearing Protection Required

Time Demands:

  • On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime.

  • When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs – this is a requirement of this position.

  • This position does not have a fixed schedule. This position requires the employee to be flexible with their schedule so that they can accommodate production schedule and complete all required tasks.

  • This can include coming in earlier than expected or staying later than expected.

Decision-making: This role requires the employee to work primarily on an off shift, thus there is limited supervision, this requires this employee to be an independent problem solver, with minimal resources. The Sanitation Associate is expected to communicate to both the Sanitation Lead and Sanitation Supervisor on anything critical to the business or safety related, that they cannot correct themselves.

Equipment Used: Responsible to effectively be able to use a variety of food processing equipment, hand trucks, carts, and CIP System, Chemical Dispensing Equipment.

Preferred Education: High School diploma/GED.
