The pay range for the co-op student role will reflect factors such as the candidate's experience, academic level, and the specific skillset required for the role.

Loblaw has adopted the following hybrid working model (a combination of working between the office and remotely). Colleagues can work remotely up to 1 day a week, while spending the other 4 days in the office (to be determined by each business unit).

 

Loblaw Companies Limited’s Western Canada legal group provides legal services and support to Loblaw’s business units, primarily focused on the following practice areas: commercial real estate, leasing, regulatory, and general commercial law.  We currently have an opportunity for a first or second year law student to join our legal team as a summer student in our Vancouver office.  We offer a challenging work environment that is built on a strong “blue” culture of teamwork.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is a summer student position which runs from May 4th to August 21st, 2026, under the direction and guidance of senior members of our legal department, and requires the performance of a variety of duties, including the following:

  • Prepare, draft and revise various documents relating to real estate and commercial transactions, including leases, land purchases and sales, easements, restrictive covenants, and various other documents;
  • Research, review, analyze, interpret and summarize a wide variety of contracts, primarily in the area of commercial real estate;
  • Work with in-house legal counsel on various complex transactions and contract drafting;
  • Research and prepare responses to inquiries from internal clients; and
  • Other tasks as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure;
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment; and
  • Strong computer skills including an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently a first or second year student in a common law program at a Canadian law school.
  • Prior work experience in commercial real estate would be an asset.
