Job Description:

Able to work positively across all departments and effectively team with peers to support department objectives. Computes records and verifies financial data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties. ​

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of fixed asset accounting for the company​
  • Review fixed asset additions and retirements, depreciation expense, gain/loss on disposals and all related reconciliations.​
  • Maintain the company’s fixed asset policy and ensure it is in compliance with GAAP. Including assisting and guiding other departments in determining what costs qualify as capitalizable.​
  • Prepare and record internal capitalized compensation costs.​
  • Prepares account reconciliations for areas assigned​
  • Review/prepare quarterly and annual schedules and analysis for auditors/tax consultants​
  • Ensure company is in compliance with internal SOX controls for areas assigned.​
  • Assists in the development of Company accounting policies and process improvement initiatives at store and corporate levels.​
  • This position has one direct report with potential to grow in the future as well as indirect reports: ​
  • Daily supervision of Corporate Accountant II (FA) ​
  • Supervision of all lease related work prepared by accountants​

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four year college or university in Accounting plus 6-10 year's experience, including some retail or restaurant industry experience and 3-5 years supervisory experience.​
  • Experience with project management and/or implementation.​
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc. ​
  • Proficient with basic computer applications, including Excel, Word, E-Mail. 10-key by touch required. ​
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form.​
  • Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. ​
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. ​
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or employees of organization. ​​
