Focus of the Role

The Fixed Network Sites (FNS) Portfolio Lead will lead a team of project professionals and design experts. This role is pivotal in building strong stakeholder relationships with our customers and delivery partners.  As a people leader and account manager, you will divide your time and energy between delivery, relationships, growing the portfolio and improving the health and life cycle management of our assets. As a member of the Infrastructure Projects Portfolio leadership team, you will be a role model for collaboration and teamwork across the Design & Construct operational and support teams as well as the broader teams across the Telstra Group.

Key programs of work managed under this role include Asset Management, Growth, Energy, Security and other programs may arise from time to time (i.e. Power Resiliency).  A well-developed understanding of the asset management, Telepower and network engineering will be required to be successful in this role. Specialist teams within this portfolio include infrastructure engineers and exchanges specialist. Your primary customers and stakeholders will be FNS Planners, Network Engineering, Energy and Asset Management Executive team. You will also work closely with Digital Infrastructure Solutions (DIS) and Customer Delivery teams who manage the Intercompany Agreements between Telstra Limited and InfraCo.

What You’ll Do

Within Telstra InfraCo, the Operations and Asset Management (O&AM) teams oversee Telstra’s operations and asset management functions.  The Design and Construct team operate within O&AM with the objective of delighting our customers by being a trusted and safety conscious delivery partner, providing excellence in design, construction, resiliency, and project solutions for their telecommunication infrastructure.

We have implemented a clear and consistent Portfolio management approach that allows activity to be planned, communicated, managed, resourced, measured and reported across the value-chain.

Key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the overall health and performance of the portfolio of work (approx. +$150M pa)

  • Understand key performance metrics for portfolio + contribute operational efficiency targets

  • Drive continuous improvement through conducting lessons learned on projects and programs

  • Manage stakeholder expectations to ensure project outcomes are clearly understood

About You

  • Passionate about projects and project management with 15+ years of experience

  • Formal qualifications in Project Management (or equivalent relevant work experience)

  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of telecommunication engineering

  • Keen interest in building capability, desire to innovate and take project delivery to the ‘next level’

  • Strong sense of team and you believe teamwork creates better outcomes

  • You aim for a win/win situation with all your interactions (internal and external)

  • You are curious by nature and interested in understanding the end-to-end customer journey

  • Growth mindset that includes desire to improve on a personal and professional level. You are self-aware and you encourage your team to embrace change

  • High degree of flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Critical thinking and ability to provide financial and delivery insights, based analysis of data

  • Expertise in core project management disciplines: risk, issue, schedule, finance and benefits management

  • Solid understanding of risk-based decision making.
