BiochemistryKey Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct research, record data, analyze data, and interpret experimental results.
Read literature articles, develop new ideas, and assimilate the information into project design/interpretation.
Prepare manuscripts for publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Present research findings at conferences and scientific meetings.
Collaborate with fellow lab members, including graduate students and technicians, to achieve research objectives.
Submit fellowship applications, as eligible, to bolster research funding and CV building for projects.
Compliance: Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, understand and follow all assigned duties, and attend regularly scheduled research team meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Education: PhD or equivalent degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related fields.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Work Experience:
Experience in protein biochemistry, cell biology, and a strong scientific publication record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work Experience:
Experience in protein biochemistry, including the expression and purification of recombinant proteins and the functional analysis of proteins is desired.
Experience in using single-molecule techniques, particularly with fluorescence microscopy and/or optical tweezers.
Experience in structural biology (X-ray crystallography, CryoEM) Skillsets in CRISPR/Cas9 construct design, validation, and implementation.
Experience in cell biology, including CRISPR/Cas9 approaches, transient transfections and PCR

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
