A role with Business Partnerships & Negotiations (BP&N) means supporting Merchandising in developing the best possible deals for Target through strategic partnerships and vendor negotiations. Here, you’ll work with buyers on contract terms and vendor organizations to set strategies that get the maximum value for Target. Use your analytics expertise and strategic thinking to position Target and its vendors for the most productive and successful partnerships.
As a Director BP&N, you will be a trusted advisor to the Merchandising pyramid by developing negotiation strategies and leading cross-functional teams to deliver cost savings for Target. You will take the lead as you partner with Negotiation Finance to build the Transform Cost Roadmap to achieve cost of goods sold goals. You will proactively identify divisions and departments in which negotiation opportunities exist and partner with Merchandising leadership to get them on board with the opportunity you’ve discovered, while working in conjunction with leadership to determine the best negotiation strategy. You will benchmark vendor profitability practices from internal resources, top retail companies, and other external companies to determine where Target has an opportunity to improve performance. You will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and evaluating vendor profitability in regards to cost negotiation, leveraging, compliance, vendor income, and supply chain to determine the biggest levers. You will train BP&N team members and merchants on strategic negotiation practices (i.e. when to use which tool or strategy). You will manage the vision and quarterly collections of vendor income. You will lead the vision and creation of new Joint Business Planning platform and approach that will drive accountability to the negotiated deals. You will partner with Merchandising teams to ensure consistent and effective implementation of all negotiation tools and best practices, while demonstrating strong understanding of Merchandising buying practices and negotiation techniques to build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams. Finally, you will supervise, train, and develop Lead & Sr Business Partners, typically 8-10 direct reports.

• 10+ years of relevant experience
• 6+ years of Target Merchandising experience
