About the Position

As a Network Engineer, you will help enhance our network platform to grow alongside our ever-expanding business on a global scale. You will be responsible for the design, administration, and support of our global network infrastructure. This engineer will work with an elite team of software engineers that enjoy solving the most complex problems through automation and software. This individual will have an “automation mindset” first, taking full ownership of our network infrastructure and leading others to develop automation solutions that build, run, and maintain our tools.

You will have the opportunity to redesign and architect our network, automate everything, and work hand in hand with our site reliability engineer to do so. You will maintain, improve, and grow the automation function with the network to minimize the work to deploy and validate changes and fix issues as they happen.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support our global network infrastructure
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and identify solutions for any network related issues
  • Replace faulty network hardware components when required
  • Provide technical expertise to both internal and external users
  • Proactively improve our infrastructure by contributing to our automation efforts
  • Create and maintain documentation detailing the implemented network components as well as relevant procedures and other documentation.
  • Deploy hardware networking switches on a larger scale.
  • Architect and design our network infrastructure.
  • Overall monitoring of our networking systems.

Required Skills

  • An undergraduate or an advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering or one of the hard sciences
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering using Arista (preferred, not a must) or Cisco
  • Expert knowledge in routing and switching – BGP/OSPF/PIM/SM/DM/Multicast – Multicast experience is very important
  • Experience working in a low latency network environment highly preferred
  • Configuration management experience with Ansible/Salt/Chef/Puppet (Ansible is a must)
  • Python programming ability is required (there will be an overlap with the SRE on our code base)
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI model
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring tools such as Grafana, Graylog, NetBrain, Splunk, SNMP, Syslog, and sflow or equivalent
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Experience with packet capture analysis using Wireshark or tcpdump
  • Experience with dark fiber and DWDM technologies
  • Nice to have network security experience (e.g.: Palo Alto firewalls, SIEM, DUO, 802.1x, etc.)
  • Familiarity working in a Linux environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Someone willing to work after hours and be on an on-call rotation. Currently we our US Team is supporting global hours
