Job Description Summary:

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care within our respiratory and sleep program. This position collaborates closely with ENT, neurology, psychiatry, and primary care colleagues. In addition, this role actively contributes to the education and training of learners, including Sleep and Pulmonary and Critical Care fellows, and participates in departmental and divisional academic activities. Academic appointment commensurate with experience.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Provide specialized clinical, educational, and/or research services within area of expertise using current, evidence-based practices and techniques.

  • Deliver comprehensive services across inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams including ENT, neurology, psychiatry, and primary care to support patient care, program development, innovation, and scholarly activity.

  • Contribute to the education, training, and mentorship of residents and fellows.

  • Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, case conferences, teaching rounds, and academic activities as assigned.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in sleep medicine, including interpretation of sleep studies and PAP management.

Required Qualifications

Education: MD, DO or equivalent.

  • This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position.  The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri.

  • Board certification/eligible in Sleep Medicine.

Work Experience:

  • Completion of an Internal Medicine residency.

  • Completion of a Sleep Medicine fellowship with
