As a Senior Robotics Engineer at FORTNA, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced robotic material handling products within our ML/AI/Robotics group. You will collaborate within your group and cross-functional teams to create cutting-edge solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards. Your expertise will also contribute to the evolution of our robotics platform, enhancing its performance, reliability, and scalability.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on the design and development of robotic systems from concept to deployment.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop prototypes to validate design concepts.
  • Implement software algorithms and configurations for perception, navigation, and control of robotic platforms.
  • Optimize robotic performance through simulation, testing (in lab and at customer’s sites), and iteration.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls and software engineering teams to integrate subsystems into complete robotic systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Report to the ML/AI/Robotics team leader.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay current with advancements in robotics technologies and identify opportunities for innovation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in robotics system design, development, and implementation.
  • Proficiency in robotics software development (ROS, Python, C++, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of robotic perception, localization, motion planning, mapping, and control algorithms.
  • Experience with sensors, actuators, and end effectors.
  • Experience deploying robotics solutions in the field.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for mechanical design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Simulation based deep Reinforcement Learning approaches.
  • Familiarity with the latest research in the field of robotics and deep learning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Previous experience in the material handling industry is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to client sites 20% of the time.

The base salary range for this role is $100,700 to $151,100.  This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
