Objective of the Function

Manages all or a substantial portion of the daily production function within a plant. Manages Manufacturing Supervisors who are responsible for the various processes and manufacturing functions throughout the plant.  Incorporates best-in-class practices to increase productivity and improve efficiency.

What will your responsibilities be?

Production Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Leads the production department with effective use of the company's human, material and technical resources
  • Regularly analyzes the production capacity necessary to meet customer requirements and reacts promptly to given situations and requests
  • Effectively manages programs in the production area
  • Develop and implement programs for the reduction of scrap and absenteeism, the economic use of manufacturing supplies, and the compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Carrying out production (production systems and techniques used) in accordance with the latest Developments in the field, under conditions of maximum efficiency in use (of resources)
  • Optimal use of the production area, being responsible for implementing solutions that lead to the improvement of production activities.
  • Analyzes work efficiency and has the duty to implement continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for efficiency improvement and production plan attainment.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Actively supports Six Sigma, AMS, MOS/Kaizen systems
  • Coordinates MOS / Kaizen activities together with the manager responsible
  • Carry out its tasks in accordance with the BOS policy
  • Quantity, quality and compliance with delivery deadlines imposed by customers
  • Cleaning of the production area (5S)

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Responsible for inventory control and management within area of responsibility
  • Ensuring adherence to production schedules, expediting production, controlling the flow of material, maintain controlled accounts of production in process and end products produced to ensure a continuous and efficient flow of production.
  • Maintain an awareness of customer shipping requirements, work schedules, quality levels and the staffing required to meet these requirements.

Team Management

  • Evaluate, train and coach each individual in the area to ensure the potential for personal career growth. Ensure that short term/long term staffing requirements will be met.

Cost Control

  •  Assist in the development of plant wide management objectives and profit plans.
  • Establish and monitor procedures to control total manufacturing costs with particular emphasis on labor variances.
  • Coordinate with service departments to resolve production problems and schedules and to organize the most cost-efficient use of machinery and staff.
  • Consult with the Plant Manager on all cost reduction projects. Discuss and determine the feasibility of the projects and determine measurement requirements.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for production-related expenses

Reporting and Documentation

  • Track KPIs such as Efficiency, downtime, quality
  • Use current trends to introduce and monitor production metrics
  • Present Data to senior management for strategic decision

Health and safety Compliance

  • Comply with the rules of labor discipline and the Internal Regulations
  • Enforce safety Protocols and ensure a safe working environment

General:

  • EHS:

- Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.

- Follow required emergency prevention and operational controls.

- Report all accidents, occupational illnesses and emergencies.

  • Quality:

- Apply, execute and maintain function related management system issues

- Knowledge of Customer requirements where applicable.

- In addition to the above-mentioned tasks other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined.

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in operations/similar field, master’s degree is added advantage
  • At least 10 years’ experience in operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in Manufacturing/ Automotive is an added advantage, preferably cutting and sewing field
  • Strong knowledge of production management systems, standards and methodologies
  • Proven experience in leading production improvement initiatives
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Strong data analytics skills, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Understanding of employee relations
  • Computer literacy, (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the financial aspects of a business
