General Description:

Director, GRDS will primarily act as Program and Strategy Lead to drive Business Operation Transformation initiatives like

  • Resource Management Ecosystem roadmap development and implementation
  • Development of playbook to support seamless end to end clinical trial budget development for external collaboration with Biotechs
  • Any other related projects and initiatives to drive business strategy

Aside to this the role will support and drive the development, enhancement, and governance of our enterprise resource need estimating tool for Phase I–III clinical trials (Rainbow). This role will be responsible for supporting the design of robust costing methodologies, work with functional team to develop and review costing algorithms, and ensuring seamless integration of the Rainbow tool with internal systems across Resource Management, Finance, HR, and IT. This is in support of accurate study level internal cost estimation as well as forecast of resource requirements.

The ideal candidate brings sound operational knowledge of the CRO or biopharmaceutical industry, strong analytical and systems-thinking capabilities, and exceptional cross-functional communication skills. He/She brings experience of leading the enterprise level cross-functional initiatives. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing costing accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial insight throughout our organization.

  • In future, the role will potentially act as a Team Lead for Budget Managers to support study level costing and overall budget management activities

Essential Functions of the Job:

1. Program and strategy management for business transformation initiatives:

a. Resource Management Ecosystem roadmap development and implementation

b. Develop Playbook for BeOne’s external collaboration with Biotech partners

c. Any other strategic projects and initiatives

2. Costing Tool & Algorithm Development

a. Support the design, development, and continuous improvement of the clinical trial costing tool.

b. Ensure cost drivers, assumptions, effort models, service levels, and resource seniority levels are accurate, scalable, and aligned with operational realities.

c. Partner with functional subject matter experts (SMEs) to maintain up-to-date operational parameters and cost benchmarks.

3. Governance & Process Management

a. Support the leadership in implementing and overseeing the cross-functional governance frameworks, including cost assumptions, version control, approval flows, and auditability.

b. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, and training materials.

c. Supporting monitoring compliance and escalating exceptions or identified risks.

d. Provide training and support to internal stakeholders, Functional units, Global Strategic Sourcing, and Finance teams.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

a. Work closely with Resource Management to integrate capacity, utilization, and effort drivers into costing models.

b. Collaborate with Finance on resource structure, budget methodologies and validation processes.

c. Partner with HR to ensure alignment of job roles, labour categories, and seniority levels

d. Coordinate with IT to support system integration, data flows, user access, and technical enhancements.

5. Systems Integration & Technical Implementation

a. Guide integration of the Costing tool with enterprise systems (e.g., budgeting, financial tracking, resource forecasting, HRIS platforms).

b. Coordinate with IT on system specifications, testing (UAT), releases, and troubleshooting.

c. Ensure data integrity, automation, and reporting capabilities meet business needs.

6. Data Analytics & Insights

a. Analyze cost trends, operational performance, and competitiveness to inform leadership decisions.

b. Generate dashboards, scenario models, and pricing insights to support any external business development activities as well as charge back mechanism.

c. Contribute to benchmarking, portfolio analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualification Required:

Computer Skills:   Proficiency with Excel, financial modelling tools, and ideally system integration or Excel-based pricing platforms.

Other Qualifications:    

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in the CRO or biopharmaceutical industry, preferably in Pricing Tools and Systems, clinical operations, project finance, business operations, or proposal & Costing management.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial delivery across Phases I–III and associated cost drivers.
  • Experience with pricing tools, operational costing, resource modelling, or financial planning systems.
  • Proven track record working cross-functionally with operational, commercial, and technical teams across different time zones in a global multicultural environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate operational details into quantitative models.
  • Familiarity with financial modelling, pricing governance, and change management.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environment.
