JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Outbound Selector is responsible for the accurate storing, shipping and receiving of products to meet company standards or safety, security, sanitation and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Select merchandise for shipment and stack on pallet neatly by using a pallet jack, forklift or cherry picker.
Correctly label products so that label can be seen on the outside of the pallet.
Picks orders for shipment and assembles various types of merchandise to be shipped.
Loads and unloads freight in an efficient and safe manner.
Moves product to storage area with proper equipment and efficiently stack and store merchandise in the appropriate areas.
Scan boxes in and out of inventory.
Recognize each pallet by route and batch number.
Carry out pre-shift checks of equipment.
Perform vehicle safety inspections visually and operationally
Report any insecure or damaged vehicles to shift supervisor, manager or maintenance staff immediately.
Assists in physical inventories as needed by breaking down and restacking merchandise from pallets during audits as needed.
Process orders including picking, checking, sorting, consolidating freight, wrapping pallets, packing and loading and shipment confirmation of customers' orders.
Checks and verifies freight for accuracy and/or damage and infestation.
Inform administrator of any difference in quantity or product description.
Conduct and maintains a sanitary and safe work environment.
Keep work area tidy by picking up scrap wood, paper, plastic wrappers and broken pallets for proper disposal.
Assist with the unloading of trailers, operating any special loading-related equipment and using other equipment as necessary.
Receives instructions from Dispatcher and/or Counter Personnel.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED
REQUIREMENTS:
1-2 previous experience in a food service environment
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy when selecting and staging orders.
Safety Awareness: Strong awareness of safety procedures and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to read and write clearly.
Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Valid Driver’s license not required, but preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequent holding and grasping with the hands when loading and unloading equipment.
Frequent use of hands, foot/feet to operate equipment.
Frequent lifting and/or pulling up to 100 lbs. without restriction.
Must be able to work in varying facility conditions such as exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.
Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
