Smithfield Foods, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technology Business Management Analyst to work closely with IT leaders and business departments to effectively communicate the value of IT to best optimize our costs.  The Senior Technology Business Management Analyst will work under the direction of the Senior Technology Business Management Manager to help design and operate the Technology Business Management (TBM) program at Smithfield.  

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key resource in building and operating the Apptio TBM solution while driving continuous improvements for the Technology Business Management organization.

  • Collaborate with all IT Cost Center owners and supporting functions in IT, Finance, Accounting, and other Business Units to measure and drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), while designing and improving IT showback and chargeback cost allocation methodologies.

  • Act as the primary liaison with technical subject matter experts within Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, and Data Engineering teams to effectively build and enhance the TBM operating model.

  • Conduct IT Service & Tower reviews to optimize run costs for the IT organization.

  • Responsible for establishing FinOps practices to better inform spend in the cloud, operationalize financial processes, and identify optimization & purchasing opportunities.

  • Collaborate with IT Executives in measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improved results. Serve as primary resource to report on results.

  • Maintain and create benchmarking metrics to evaluate IT performance.

  • Conduct reviews of IT spending consumed by business departments to measure value of IT service delivery.

  • Develop and implement strategy and action plans to reduce data gaps and ensure efficient and effective use of data.

  • Translate TBM model and underlying data to build actionable insight reporting within Apptio Cost Transparency.

  • Solicit and solve TBM use cases through innovative solutions and Apptio knowledge.

  • Support the creation of project forecasts for IT centric

  • Work closely with IT Management and Business Leadership to help streamline, standardize, and optimize IT Financial Management processes.

  • Provide regular TBM related education and training through TBM Center of Excellence and other steering committee meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Data and/or Business Analytics, Computer Science, Business Management, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Ability to leverage technical acumen to build transparent consumption data in accordance with the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework.

  • Advanced understanding of TBM cost model and financial management best practices such as budgeting, forecasting, cost allocations, capital & operating expense, program portfolio management, and application/infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps), IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software licensing and entitlements, IT services (ITIL), Procurement, and Vendor Management processes and best practices.

  • Knowledge of financial reporting with specific experience within IT Finance to include accrual accounting, capitalization of investments, fixed assets, etc.

  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure domains including cloud, network/communications, server utilization, virtual environments, storage, and application development.

  • Solid understanding of budgetary planning, cost reporting and cost allocation methodologies. Thorough knowledge of data modeling, data relationships and analyzing financial results.

  • Experience with Apptio Technology Business Management (TBM) software is required.

  • Knowledge of IT systems and IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and software such as ServiceNow.

  • Familiarity with the SAP ERP system at GL level is preferred.

  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong, efficient working relationships with multiple levels of management and staff across the business.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with peers and executive leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may act as a mentor by providing training and guidance to less experienced Analysts.
