Summary of Job Duties:

The Testing Assistant [Administrative Specialist I] works as part of a testing team to ensure that UAMS students have comfortable and successful testing experience within the Academic Services (OAS) Testing Schedulers. They must have strong customer service and communication skills with great problem-solving capabilities. The Testing Assistant must be able to safeguard the testing center from misconduct and be willing to interact with faculty on a professional, regular basis. They must be able to have their work interrupted frequently without becoming frustrated and be electronically and physically organized.


Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrate experience working in a service-oriented environment; friendly, welcoming demeanor required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions; ability to remain stationary for extended periods and perform walk-throughs is necessary.
  • Intermediate computer program proficiency.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Greet students and verify identification and that the student has signed-in to test.

  • Ensure all student belongings are locked away and that students only have allowed materials for testing. Helps coordinate supply orders and marketing events/orientations.

  • Perform administrative functions required by OAS.

  • Conducts closing procedures daily.

  • Acts as a contributing, collegial member of OAS.

  • Maintain OAS testing calendars and database.

  • Monitors testing email inboxes for incoming testing requests.

  • Schedules tests and testing equipment/rooms on the testing calendars ensuring that all relevant information is collected, and conflicts are resolved prior to testing.

  • Notifies the Testing Coordinator and staff of changes and special circumstances as it pertains to testing and testing equipment.

  • Administer tests/exams.

  • Maintain and apply knowledge of Testing Center policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Confirm testing equipment is operational and the testing area is clean and organized.

  • Contact teaching faculty with any testing issues (missing password, test not appearing, etc.).

  • Continuously monitor students while testing.

  • Collect evidence of misconduct if necessary.

  • Retrieve scratch paper and send any documentation to the teaching faculty as requested.

  • Communicate issues with other testing center staff and/or technical support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
