Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU), has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4 will be a part of the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) product line under the Architecture and Delivery (A&D) Integrated Product Team.  Through this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the cornerstone of The Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) layered missile defense architecture and advance a 60+ year mission to defend our homeland. 

You'll develop systems engineering products that directly support the design and development of GWS (Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS)) capabilities on behalf of The Missile Defense Agency (MDA)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's STEM Degree and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • 4+ years of experience with requirements decomposition, requirements management, or verification efforts.
  • Verification experience or knowledge
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
  • Must be able to work on-site in an office environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS 
  • Experience with Requirement Verification methods
  • Experience with Test
  • GMD Knowledge 
  • Demonstrated independent planning, organization, and working in cross-functional teams with a customer focus
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools  
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • INCOSE or System Engineering certification  

Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
