ROLE SUMMARY
The Director, Vaccines External Communications will be focused on U.S. external communications for multiple inline, priority assets, potential pipeline assets and other vaccine projects. The person will lead U.S. driven public relations, including revenue-generating priorities that are integrated with brand consumer marketing objectives.
The role requires close liaison and partnership with multiple teams and leaders within Corporate Affairs and the Vaccines Business Unit, including Consumer Marketing, Medical Affairs, Public Affairs, Media Relations, and Science and Clinical External Communications.
This is an exciting role for someone who thrives on creating highly visible, consumer facing PR programs, as well someone with experience leading agency resources and working closely with leaders across a large, highly matrixed organization.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic counsel and develop and lead development of fresh and original communications plans to achieve the revenue goals of the Vaccines business.
- Develop and execute scroll stopping creative.
- Work in close collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Conceptualize and oversee the creation and production of social media/influencer programs.
- Lead earned media strategy in close partnership with the Global Media Relations, including targeting, strategic messages and content development.
- Manage issues and direct rapid-response communications.
- Lead external announcements for regulatory, clinical and commercial milestones.
- Manage projects, budgets and agencies.
- Track and measure communications metrics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in communications and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans.
- Experience in a corporate or other large, global, complex organization desirable.
- Track record of providing strategic counsel to senior corporate executives and working comfortably with senior executives and across cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record of leading, developing and delivering effective, creative communications to advance business goals.
- Strong writing, editing, and project management experience; track record of reliable and timely communication planning and execution.
- Demonstrated understanding of how PR/communications strategy connects to and advances integrated marketing strategy.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and strategic, analytical and leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of and expertise in current and emerging social media and digital communications and trends.
- Proven ability to work effectively and inclusively in teams with diverse internal and external stakeholders; influence, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with healthcare and biopharmaceuticals industries.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in biopharmaceutical or life sciences communications a plus.
- Mastery of overall communications skills including communications strategy; communications plans targeted to consumer audiences; researching/writing/editing messaging documents, talking points, editorial features, scripts and other materials; oversight of social first media productions; measurement and reporting
- Vaccines communication experience
- Stakeholder management, influence and persuasiveness, tact and discretion.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and follow through.
- Ability to lead and coordinate multiple projects on rapidly moving deadlines.
- Client focus, professionalism, good listening and well-developed interpersonal skills.
- A knack for following, synthesizing and simplifying complex business, scientific, medical and technical information for clear communications to cut through clutter and jargon.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
