Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Banquet Captain at the Irving Convention Center. Responsible for overseeing all Banquet Functions to include coffee breaks, buffet, plated and reception events. All functions serving any food & beverage items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintaining labor costs and budget goals.
  • Fulfilling the service per each Banquet Event Orders (BEO).
  • Maintains an active role in local hospitality community and professional associations.
  • Attend in-house event-related meetings and relays immediate changes with other departments.
  • Maintaining all Banquet equipment cleanliness and annual maintenance.
  • Maintain a Health Department score of 90 or higher.
  • Must be creative in designing buffets and coffee break décor.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service is a must
  • Position is very hands on with excessive interaction with clients during events.
  • Ordering linen and maintaining uniforms.
  • Responsible for Inventory Control, Beverage Inventory, ordering, receiving and controls.
  • Responsible for consumption sheets and imputing into the system.
  • Daily contact with the Food & Beverage Director, Catering Managers, and other convention center employees.  
  • Should attend food and beverage meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities    

       

  • Assists in supervising all hourly F&B Staff
  • Supervises and trains contract labor

Education and/or Experience        

  • At least four years of management experience in a banquet facility servicing meals for large events
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Strong orientation to customer service and ability to work with other staff members in the facility
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to meet required budgetary goals.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks
  • Computer skills to include Excel programs
  • Serve-safe certified
  • Ability to be creative with buffet presentations and maintain a quality product
