This multifaceted program spans 24/7/365 Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring, advanced threat intelligence, forensics, incident response, cloud and network security engineering, zero trust modernization, vulnerability assessment, and enterprise-wide risk and compliance activities. Key Leads on this program will guide teams at the forefront of national security, supporting sophisticated cyber operations that defend vital systems, enable secure mission execution, and counter rapidly evolving threats. You will find this work uniquely impactful, fast-paced, and deeply collaborative, offering the opportunity to lead high performing technical teams, shape CBP’s cybersecurity strategy, and contribute directly to the protection of the nation.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
The Enterprise Asset Manager is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all organizational assets, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity assets. You will:
Have a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership capabilities.
Build comprehensive asset inventories across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments, define asset criticality, enable lifecycle governance, and drive the accuracy of data feeding continuous monitoring and FISMA processes.
Have experience with complex enterprise environments, automation, and cross organizational collaboration. Support modernizing asset intelligence at scale and directly influence CBP’s cyber risk posture.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Secret clearance required.
A minimum of five (5)- seven (7) years of progressive experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) roles is required, with at least 3-5 years of that experience in a lead or managerial capacity overseeing asset management programs within a large, complex enterprise environment.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive asset inventories for both on-premise and cloud-based assets, as well as proven experience with asset classification, prioritization, and lifecycle management, specifically integrating cybersecurity considerations.
Experience collaborating with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability management, configuration management, and risk assessments, alongside familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks such as FISMA, NIST, and ISO 27001, and supporting audits.
Possess expert-level knowledge of IT Asset Management (ITAM) principles, best practices, and methodologies (e.g., ITIL, ISO 19770), coupled with a deep understanding of hardware, software, and cloud asset lifecycles. Proficiency in asset discovery tools and techniques for various environments (network, endpoint, cloud) is essential, as is a strong understanding of software licensing models, compliance, and optimization strategies.
Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, vulnerabilities, and risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST RMF, CSF) is critical, along with familiarity with secure configuration baselines and configuration management best practices.
Ability to integrate asset data into security operations, vulnerability management, and incident response processes is also a key requirement.
Extensive experience with leading ITAM/EAM platforms and CMDB solutions (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Ivanti, BMC, etc.) is expected, including experience evaluating, implementing, and managing asset management tools.
Familiarity with automation concepts and scripting for asset data collection and reconciliation will be highly valued.
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau), with the ability to develop and track KPIs and metrics for asset management effectiveness, and strong analytical skills to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.
