STATUS: Part-Time
DEPARTMENT: Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
DIVISION: President’s Office
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Program Manager, DEI
PLACEMENT: Clerical, Grade 5
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $15.36 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office Assistant provides a wide variety of clerical duties requiring the exercise of high-quality customer service skills, good judgment, and discretion. This position provides support to the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, exercising an elevated level of discretion, professionalism, and customer service. This position is responsible for assisting with HSI programs and initiatives, social media strategies, content creation, digital inclusion, and will providing general office assistance to the DEI office. Demonstrates considerable judgement, initiative, and independent action in establishing or adapting work procedures to new situations. 
 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Coordinate social media strategy initiatives with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
2.    Creatively market DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives through content creation suitable for TV monitors, campus-wide emails, posters, and social media.
3.    Create visual displays, flyers, brochures, bulletin boards, and other promotional materials to market the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and its programs.
4.    Promote and raise awareness of monthly heritage months/celebrations via social media, program planning and content creation to be shared with the campus community.
5.    Assist with setup/breakdown of events (programs, table talk, signature events, etc.) as needed. 
6.    Assist with general office duties including front desk/office coverage as needed.
7.    Ability to professionally interact with a diverse population, including all internal and external stakeholders.
8.    Maintaining confidentiality of documents and information is required.
9.    Perform other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High school diploma or equivalent.
2.    One (1) year of clerical support experience.
3.    One (1) year of experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
4.    Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power point and Excel.
5.    Excellent customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication skills.
6.    Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking.
7.    Familiar with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, etc.
8.    Adhere to and maintain confidentiality.
9.    Strong interpersonal communication skills and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
10.    Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation, and quality.
11.    Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other colleges and community members, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.    Associate’s degree
2.    Knowledge of JJC (Joliet Junior College) procedures and policies.
3.    English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
4.    Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
1.    Normal office physical demands.
2.    Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
3.    Availability to work some evenings. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 
•    Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
