The team/department

The Human Resources (HR) Division is made up of a number of expert service teams whose role it is to help the FCA deliver its people priorities.

This role sits within the Culture and Conduct Department, which plays a key role in creating a brilliant employee experience and an inclusive working culture for our people. 

The Department covers core functions around:

  • HR Business Partnering: Delivering a strategic HR Business Partner model which is insight led and adds value to the organisation.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - delivery of the FCA’s aspirations to foster a diverse and inclusive working environment that supports colleagues to be their authentic selves at work.
  • Employee Voice and Engagement: Creating an exceptional employee experience through ensuring that our colleague voice channels enable all of our people to feel they are involved and can tell us what matters to them most.
  • Community engagement – leading our approach to how we engage with our local communities.

What you will be doing

We are transforming to become a data-led regulator, that identifies and runs towards future problems, and embraces future opportunities. Our people function is at the heart of that transformation and our HR Business Partners are critical to enabling our success.  

We will look to you to provide expert advice and guidance to senior leaders across the FCA. You will work directly with members of our Executive Committee, acting as trusted advisers, consulting with and advising them on the development of people strategies that will deliver our vision and business plan. You will work closely with their leadership teams to develop and execute those strategies, including talent management, organisational effectiveness, strategic workforce planning, diversity and inclusion, and employee retention & engagement. You will collaborate closely with your colleagues in our HR Centres of Expertise and your business areas, bringing business insight and advocating a client-centred approach to colleagues across HR and the rest of FCA Operations to develop solutions that help to deliver outcomes for the FCA, our colleagues, consumers, market participants and the economy. You will also contribute to the broader FCA Leadership through a number of cross-functional programs and initiatives.  
 
To be successful in this role, you must be able to quickly grasp your business area, understand their priorities and translate them into the highest impact work. You will work with colleagues to develop insightful, evidence based recommendations to improve performance, retention and drive the overall employee experience. You will have the curiosity to see patterns, the tenacity to diagnose issues, the openness to think creatively and excellent intervention skills in order to use these insights to deliver business outcomes in both the short and long term.

We support hybrid working which means you will be able to work from home up to 60% of the time over a month with the remainder of your time in one of our three office locations.  

  

The skills and experience you will have  

    

Minimum

  • Experienced HR Professional, with demonstrable experience of working with businesses to develop people strategies that deliver business outcomes 
  • Significant experience of senior stakeholder management
  • An evidence based HR practitioner able to use metrics, data and evidence to develop impactful interventions 

Essential criteria

  • You are an engaging leader who can set a vision, enthuse colleagues and manage people, directly and/or indirectly to deliver business outcomes 
  • You have strong consultancy skills which enables you to contract clearly, diagnose issues, develop solutions, implement interventions and manage a wide range of stakeholders 
  • You are an experienced manager of change projects who has the ability to assess priorities, clearly scope and contract deliverables, manage trade-offs and develop plans to successfully implement different types of change 
  • You are collaborative, with an ability to operate across organisational boundaries to gain buy in to your ideas and achieve successful outcomes 
  • You have an impactful personal presence and influencing skill that enables the development of strong client relationships 
  • You can work quickly to understand a business, identify opportunities and question where necessary to deliver best results 
  • You are curious about people and organisations, and you can apply that to develop insights and deliver creative intervention. You are open to feedback, and to your own development, and to supporting the development of those around you 
  • You have effective reasoning skills, and an ability to use research, evidence, data and metrics to develop insights and create solutions
