The IT R&D San Jose Applications team is leading this transformation in partnership with Brion Engineering, the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), Security, and Architecture teams. 

We are seeking a Technical Lead – DevOps Platforms & Developer Experience to help shape the future of Brion's engineering ecosystem. This role blends Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Developer Experience (DevEx), AI-powered automation, and Service Delivery to create world-class development platforms that enable engineers to innovate faster and deliver software at scale.

As Technical Lead, you will act as the primary technical representative of the IT R&D San Jose Applications team within Brion. You will lead the transformation of development platforms into secure, scalable, cloud-native managed services while driving adoption of modern DevOps, Platform Engineering, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Developer Experience practices. 

Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler Arizona, San Jose and San Diego California, Wilton Connecticut, and Hillsboro Oregon.

Role and responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Service Ownership 

  • Lead the transition of Brion DevEnv applications into enterprise-managed services. 

  • Define service offerings, SLOs, SLIs, support models, and operational readiness standards. 

  • Establish release, incident, change, and problem management processes that improve reliability and service quality. 

  • Partner with engineering stakeholders to develop a roadmap for developer platform capabilities.

Developer Platforms & Automation 

  • Own the lifecycle, administration, integration, and optimization of key development platforms including: Jira & Confluence, Bitbucket & Bamboo, SonarQube, JFrog Artifactory, Black Duck, Xray, qTest, Grafana, Prometheus & Splunk 

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, deployment standards, and platform governance. 

  • Develop operational documentation, runbooks, and self-service capabilities that improve developer productivity.

Cloud, Security & Reliability 

  • Support cloud-native platforms running on Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). 

  • Implement GitOps practices utilizing Argo CD, Helm, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). 

  • Embed DevSecOps and Security-by-Design principles, including RBAC, software supply chain security, SBOM governance, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation. 

  • Define observability standards through monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational analytics.

Innovation & Leadership 

  • Partner with architects and engineers to deliver scalable platform solutions. 

  • Leverage AI for Developer Productivity, AIOps, and Engineering Automation while ensuring appropriate governance and compliance. 

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance across global teams. 

  • Influence stakeholders and drive alignment in a highly collaborative environment. 

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics, or related fields. 

  • Master's degree preferred. 

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Application Engineering, or Software Engineering. 

  • Hands-on experience with: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, SonarQube & JFrog Artifactory 

  • Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and software delivery platforms. 

  • Experience with Terraform, Helm, Python, Bash, Groovy, or similar automation technologies. 

  • Experience with observability tools including Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or Application Insights. 

  • Experience working in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure. 

  • Experience partnering with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams in enterprise environments. 

  • Experience working within Agile or SAFe frameworks. 

Preferred

  •  Experience with Kubernetes, AKS, GitOps, Argo CD, and Platform Engineering practices. 

  • Experience implementing DevSecOps and container security. 

  • Experience supporting Developer Experience (DevEx) initiatives. 

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled engineering tools and AIOps solutions. 

  • ITIL or service management experience.

Other information

  • This position is located on-site in San Jose, California. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. (Important to insert additional onsite language specific to the role: i.e., inspection, specific training and supervision, etc.)

  • A flexible workplace arrangement is available for remote work up to two days a week.

Responsibilities  

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$120,750-181,125

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
