The Data Lineage and Modeling Validation and Support Lead is a key position in Citi’s Chief Data Office (CDO) within the Chief Operating Office (COO) organization. The mandate of COO is to coordinate the Transformation efforts of the firm to deliver client excellence, improved operating efficiency and returns. As part of COO, the CDO organization is responsible for an enterprise-wide effort to transform and strengthen the firm’s data, modernize data infrastructure while simplifying the data operating model and executing the strategic priorities for the firm. The CDO defines and enforces data-related policies and standards across Citi and equips the firm with the tools required to take ownership and accountability for data governance and management.
This is a crucial role within the Services Markets and Client (SMC) CDO as part of the enterprise CDO and will be responsible for Data Lineage and Modeling validation and support at the SMC level and will support the SMC CDO in various initiatives to improve data management across SMC globally.
This position will interface with SMC Technology & Business, Finance, Risk, and Compliance, etc.
The Data Lineage and Modeling Validation and Support Lead will own validation of Data Lineage and Modeling across SMC’s complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Excellent commercial awareness is a necessity. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.
This is a highly visible role within the SMC CDO organization reporting to the SMC Head of Data Lineage and Modeling and will be responsible for Data Lineage and Modeling validation at the SMC level and will support the SMC CDO in cross functional data lineage and modeling efforts across SMC globally. This position will interface with Global Functions (Finance, Risk, and Compliance), Global Functions Technology, Business, and SMC Operations & Technology leadership.
Responsibilities:
Requires ownership of SMC CDO data lineage and modeling validation and support for one or many lines of business, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines, or processes
Will serve as single point of contact for Data Lineage and modeling standards and rollout across key LOBs across CITI’s SMC landscape
Partnering with the different SMC teams, plan, direct, and coordinate SMC Data Lineage and modeling strategies and activities across SMC including business process reengineering that will enable the achievement of strategies and initiatives that increase revenues, reduce costs and/or improve the customer and business partner experience
Contribute to Data Lineage and Modeling program, driving approach and results, and ensuring optimal solution delivery through clearly defined requirements and implementation plans
Partner closely with SMC Business Line Data Governance Offices, Data Stewards and Technology and serve as the SMC Data Lineage and Modeling expert in standards and best practices
Work with Central CDO team on delivering target state capabilities mainly related to the Data Lineage and modeling processes
Establish governance and monitoring of lineage and modeling deliverables across all SMC business lines
Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate with external parties.
Provide guidance to SMC business lines on data lineage and modeling and provide escalation through Steering Committee’s and cross functional management
Serve as “voice of the customer” to help drive data lineage and modeling tooling capabilities for enterprise data management toolset
Provide product expertise to identify tactical and strategic solutions, and iterative process improvements for Data Lineage and Modeling programs
Understands how own function integrates within the overall organization to contribute to achieving business objectives; requires a good working knowledge of the industry.
Experience:
7+ years’ experience with defining and implementing data lineage programs in a large global bank or Big Four consulting firm.
Must have experience with Data Lineage and/or Data Lineage Governance and driving initiative across Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, Security & Issuer Services, Research, Reference and Master Data.
Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to lead teams through direct and matrix reporting lines.
Ability to give focused attention to details and deliver high quality work while managing competing priorities under pressure
Understands how own function integrates within the overall organization to contribute to achieving business objectives; requires a good working knowledge of the industry.
Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
Skills:
Experience in data stewardship and technical expertise in Citi ICG technology or business
Experienced in building project plans, sequencing deliverables, and issues management
Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate with external parties.
Expert in data lineage related disciplines such as Taxonomies and Metadata.
Knowledge of securities and financial instruments required+ Outstanding executive communications skills+ Demonstrated facility to interact and work effectively with diverse teams+ Ability to lead projects with multiple counterparts across organizations.
Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience+ Master's degree / MBA.
Data Management Certification preferred
