Job Summary:

In collaboration with system leadership, the Executive Director is responsible for: This leader is a member of the chief nursing officer's administrative team and may serve as her/his designee for assigned responsibilities. This leader reports to the nursing operations leader and demonstrates own leadership to effectively partner with nursing leadership, hospital vice presidents, medical staff and other departments to create a center of excellence for their specialty service and to meet or exceed the hospital's mission, vision and goals. This leader administers to seven cost centers with a range of 150 to 250 FTEs in a hospital This Executive Director has responsibility for all perioperative departments including Operating room suites, Hybrid Endovascular suite, OP ASC, PACU department, pre/post-op department, PATT Clinic, Acute Pain service, and Endoscopy department. This role will be responsible for ensuring expansion and growth of the Neuro Endovascular program and an off-site ASC. Developing, organizing, coordinating, and facilitating unit/Department/Division specific strategies to achieve organizational objectives Translating the system vision to departmental/Division, operational strategies, prioritizing and executing those strategies Integrating varied practices, standards, policies, and procedures to insure optimization of resources Establishing an environmental framework that celebrates cultural diversity, communication, business ethics, accountability, and empowerment. Developing and managing a fiscal, operational plan that supports system, strategic imperatives and value analysis. It is expected that all nurse leaders are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting Wellstar Experience goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Accountability for financial, programmatic, and quality performance, regulatory oversight, standardization and prioritization of operations to achieve system objectives while assuring continuous quality improvement and outcome excellence. * a. develops operating and capital budgets; monitors to insure variance analysis and resolution * b. identifies high risk areas for regulatory compliance; trains staff, monitors and ensures compliance * c. monitors clinical and performance outcomes via benchmark analysis and facilitates accountability via defined expectations and goals * d. develops departmental/Division strategic plans and works with leadership to facilitate goal achievement Establishes the vision for future growth of operations and strategic planning for the Department/Division * a. develop, monitor, and manage a strategic plan for the department/Division * b. monitor industry trends to define market position * c. identify opportunities and threats * e. develop a model for change to facilitate creative and innovative solutions in a changing market * f. grow leaders who are resilient, adapt quickly and take measured risks Human Resource Management * a. Hires management team, grooms for progressive levels of responsibility * b. monitors managerial performance and provides coaching, counseling as indicated for improved performance * c. creates an environment of mutual trust, respect and empowerment to foster ethical leadership * d. creates accountability for employee morale and customer satisfaction Coordination of services across the continuum to assure the same standard of care for all clients. * a. maintains awareness of industry standards of care * b. integrates best practice standards to optimize resources and patient care outcomes * c. investigates evidence-based practice to identify solution strategies to complex medical dilemmas * d. ensures ethical decision making as a clinical competency and holds staff accountable for adherence to the organizations business code of conduct * e. communicates relevant PI activities across the system to foster a continued learning environment for all staff. Liaison to other departments/Divisions within the system to foster collaboration to achieve system objectives * a. participate in system wide committees that share strategic objectives * b. translate organizational relevance to unit specific efforts * c. represent Department/Division specific issues and serve as resource to other departments * d. establish relationships with others through a shared vision Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Nursing or Masters Nursing or Masters Other

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse; includes 5-7 years of progressive operational leadership in a manager or director level role. Required and Minimum 5 years experience in managing multiple departments in the peri-operative area Required

Required Minimum Skills:

Performance management skills financial acumen (including experience with value analysis) strategic planning communication skills knowledge of industry standards leadership and interpersonal skills analytical skills to solve technical problems as well as abstract reasoning to define course of actions when information may be vague or unclear.
