This exciting role is responsible for providing guidance and advice on the administration, interpretation, and application on a wide range of human resources policies, procedures, processes, and compliance stemming from the HR business units, Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition & Organization Health, Total Rewards, Labour Relations and HR Operations.

In this role you will:
- You will partner with the HR Business Partner to assist the National Capital Region to meet its strategic goals and objectives through the management and enhancement of existing HR programs and practices, and the implementation of new programs and procedures that reflect best practices, legislative requirements, and NAV CANADA corporate culture.
- You participate in corporate and regional projects or initiatives that significantly impact organizational policies and change within the NCR.
- You will support the HR Business Partner on proper and consistent application of corporate policies and practices; Interprets applicable policy/program or practice and collective agreements related to organization restructures, staffing policies, procedures, and processes.
- You provide research and recommendations to assist HR Business Partner with investigations and resolution of employee relations matters.
- You conduct research and analysis using internal and external resources to gain insight of current program / project, processes, and practices to assist management. Participates on other HR or cross-functional teams and projects as required. Builds and maintains a relationship with cross-functional teams, management, unions, and external stakeholders, to foster and support coordination of objectives.
- You understand and interpret Employment Legislation in order to support and guide compliance with the following Legislations: Human Rights Act, Employment Equity Act, Privacy Act, Canada Labour Code etc.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resource or a related field, or professional Human Resources certification.
- 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role
- Experience in performing investigations.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- A passion for people (and you believe in the good of them).
- Thorough understanding of Human Resources best practices and strategic programs.
- Thorough understanding of Labor Relations and legislated requirements.
- Demonstrated internal consulting and advisory capability.
- Ability to coach employees and managers through difficult situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Working conditions:
- This position is based at the Ottawa Head Office and classified as a Hybrid position requiring incumbent to be on site a minimum 4 days per week.
- Occasional travel is required.
